FRAME 17 / 60 · Pendulums & balance

Refusing the vortex

The vortex is the spiral a pendulum pulls you into once you accept its push.

Teaching

The vortex is the spiral a pendulum pulls you into once you accept its push. The longer you stay in it, the worse the script gets: each reaction deepens the line. You exit not by winning the argument or suppressing the emotion but by quietly stepping off — refusing to play the script the pendulum handed you. Even one clean pause breaks the spiral; consistency over time makes you invisible to the structure. The pendulum then loses interest.

Practice · 4 min

Pick one pendulum that reliably pulls you in. Today, the moment it tugs, perform one neutral act instead of the expected reaction — breathe, walk, change the subject.

Evening reflection

What neutral act could be your reliable exit from your most familiar vortex?
